(about the problems of ecological infertility in Russia)

Environmental factors can significantly affect the ability of both spouses to conceive a child. We cannot influence the ecology. However, there is something we can change ...

Man is a part of the biological system, like any living thing on earth. The conditions of his habitat in one way or another affect all the functions and systems of his organism, including the ability to reproduce oneself like offspring. Or - do not play. Infertility is increasingly becoming an interdisciplinary and state problem. However, even in matters of "ecology habitat" experts are ready to adjust the lifestyle of future parents in order to increase the chances of a baby.

In many ways, human health depends on the environmental atmosphere in which he lives. Much depends on what kind of water a person drinks, what he breathes or eats. Judging by the analysis of the current environmental situation, one can safely judge that civilization is approaching a critical period of development. And some experts believe that the moment of the onset of the irreversible processes of destruction of the life sphere can begin in the coming decades. People themselves harm their environmental ignorance.

To be fair, all environmental risks can be divided into two groups: managed and unmanaged. The latter can be attributed to living in a large industrial metropolis, or a dysfunctional "dirty" region as a whole, which not every young family will decide on a cleaner one. There are also other objective circumstances that, by and large, a single pair cannot change. But to reduce other risks - managed - is quite possible for everyone.

Help yourself

Doctors say that infertility is not a definitive diagnosis, but a characteristic of a person’s health at a particular point in time. Environmental causes of infertility are relatively quick and easy to correct.

People usually see themselves in isolation from the concept of "ecology". A common opinion: the ecology is an exclusively environment, and a person is only forcedly immersed in it and from time to time experiences some of its effects. This is not true. Man is an integral and inseparable component of the ecosystem. The environmental situation around him is formed not only from the gas content of the nearest highway, but also from what he ate for breakfast, what clothes and shoes he put on himself, how often he wipes dust in his house.

Do you work in the center of a polluted city? Go to nature more often in your free time, use a humidifier and an air ionizer. Do you live surrounded by carpets, downy feather beds, upholstered furniture, curtains and canopies? Reduce their number: lungs, skin and reproductive system will thank you. Planning a repair? Pay attention to the environmental friendliness of building materials.

If possible, use in everyday life natural cleaners - baking soda, lemon juice (silver cleaning, rust removal), vinegar (tile cleaning, glass cleaning), etc.

Choose a hair dye or nail polish only recognized, well-known brands. Buy clothes from natural fibers. Remember that the old refrigerator, mobile phone and even ordinary batteries can not be thrown away, but must be taken to specialized recycling points. From such trifles, and the overall ecological picture.

IVF and surrogacy as a solution to the problem of environmental infertility

Modern statistics is such that every eighth couple cannot have children. Infertility can be considered a situation where a woman who lives a regular sex life for three years cannot have children. Infertility can be relative as well as absolute. In the latter case, the changes in the body are irreversible and completely impede conception. For example, if there is no uterus, ovaries or fallopian tubes.

If attempts to become pregnant naturally during the year do not give results, it is worth contacting the fertility specialist. It is important not to take time, as the woman's ovarian reserve worsens with age, and hence the chances for a favorable outcome decrease! In addition, now gynecologists have plenty of opportunities to solve the problem of infertility, including IVF.

IVF literally stands for in vitro fertilization. Its main formula is to artificially stimulate the growth of several follicles in the ovaries, when they reach ovulatory size, it is safe to remove them from the body, fertilize them in a special environment, wait a few days to understand that the embryo began to develop, and introduce this embryo into the uterine cavity. In fact, this is exactly what reproductive physicians do in conjunction with embryologists, who perform fertilization. The effectiveness of IVF varies widely from 20 to 70%, because it depends on the problem that IVF solves. Actually, with the advent of this technology, it became clear that in matters of reproduction, not everything is completely clear, but what seemed understandable is not. In fact, no fertility specialist will be able to say with certainty that a pregnancy will occur after the embryo is introduced into the uterus, even if it is completely sure that everything has done well and correctly. We are still very far from a complete understanding of the process of pregnancy, but we can already help more and more couples who are previously doomed to childless existence.

Surrogacy makes it possible for women to have a child, for whom gestation and childbirth are impossible for various reasons. In surrogate maternity, the genetic material of the couple is used, and the fertilized egg is implanted into another woman who (as a rule, for a fee) bears and gives birth to a child. In Russia, surrogacy is absolutely legal, although it has quite a few opponents.

In any case, if you are faced with the problem of infertility (whatever the cause), you should immediately consult a doctor who should warn the patient, including the presence of "environmental" factors of infertility and the importance of their elimination. Moreover, after the end of the action of eco-factors (cessation of exposure, work in hazardous production, service in “dangerous” places) and the start of treatment of environmental infertility, a pause should be made.

And, of course, it is worth remembering about the possibility of preserving reproductive cells (sperm and eggs) by freezing. For example, before starting chemotherapy or working in a zone of high concentration of adverse environmental factors. This will allow in the future to have children, regardless of the degree of damage to the reproductive system.
